john-obrienIn the process of reading the first three chapters of Job and the rest of Job, take note with pen and paper on the following happenings:

Job’s Terrible Misfortunes :

1. Loses his wealth and source of income in 24 hours! - 1:13-22

2. Loses his employees in 24 hours - 1:13-22

3. Loses all of his children in the same 24 hours. - 1:13-22

4. His health is taken from him soon after. 2:6-8 ; 7:3-5

5. His wife is no longer his partner or helper- 2:9-10 ; 19:17

6. His friends are gone and his reputation is ruined. - 6:26-30 ; 12:4-5

7. Loses his reputation and respect within the community - 17:6

8. Loses the respect and love of his own family! - 19:13-20

Job's Terrible Discomforts:

1. Regret she had been given life. - 3:3-19

2. Miserable - 3:20 ; 6:2-3

3. Develops bitterness. - 3:20 ; 9:18 ; 17:1

4. Wishes for death. - 3:21

5. Sees no future for himself - 3:23 ; 6:11-13 ; 17:11

6. Lost all desire for subsistence.- 3:24

7. Peace escapes him.- 3:26

8. No longer enjoys life. - 7:16

9. Poor health has reduced him to skin and bones. - 16:8 ; 17:7

10. Suffers humiliation. - 30:11

11. Slips into depression. - 30:36

Job’s Great Desires :

1. He desires to express his anger. - 7:11 ; 10:1

2. He desires to complain to God. - 7:17-21 ; 10:1 ; 21:4

3. He desires to accuse God. - 10:13-17 ; 19:6 ; 30:16-23
